- Outlining Barts Health’s strategy of investing in infrastructure, training staff and implementing new working practices for cleaning and portering staff as a method to reduce waste across the trust
- Examining the trusts dedicated facilities for recycling, including a “reverse vending” machine for plastic drink bottles and metal cans and renal re-vending machine, which recycles nearly 15 tonnes of high-density polyethylene plastic a year
- Assessing how the trust utilised a Green Ward competition as a method to allow staff to contribute and gain their buy-in towards the waste reduction strategy
- Highlighting the next steps for the trust in continuing to reduce their waste, including introducing a new reverse vending machine in line with the government’s “returns deposit scheme” at Whipps Cross hospital
